With the World Grand Prix Darts just around the corner, we've asked Rod Harrington for his runners and riders ahead of the unique double in, double out tournament in Dublin.
In what will be the 20th staging of the event at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, we've asked 'The Prince of Style' what makes this such a special occasion and his tips for the title.
What makes the World Grand Prix so special?
It's the double in isn't it and the short format in that first round. It can get very nerve-racking even for the very best players. The top player can play the number 32-ranked in the world and it still isn't a given - it is edgy. You never see many great averages from a double in. You can have a 12-dart leg and then all of a sudden you can take another 12 darts to get out.
Who is your favourite to win?
I'm tipping Michael van Gerwen like I normally do. People say 'you're always tipping Michael van Gerwen' well, yes, because he is kind of the best at the moment.
What about Gary Anderson?
He's never played that great in this tournament. He tends to miss doubles at crucial times and he really doesn't seem to like the format. He's openly admitted to being not a great lover of the tournament.
Does Mensur Suljovic stand a chance of winning?
He's a very dangerous player and now he's got that confidence after winning the Champions League of Darts - that is huge. He will be a danger to the rest.
Best of the rest...
Daryl Gurney may have a good run - he's been playing well. If you want a massive outsider then I would recommend Rob Cross. He's playing extremely well this year, but it is the flip of a coin to be honest with you.
There are players in a straight format like the Dave Chisnall's that you give a chance of winning, but in this tournament you don't.
Will we see a nine-darter this year?
The players are so good now I can't believe we're not seeing more nine-darters on TV. We're seeing them on the floor events and even the challenge and development tours. All 32 players can literally hit the nine-darter in this format, so it wouldn't surprise me if we see one.
