Wayne Mardle says he would love to see Phil Taylor win the Premier League
Taylor trumps Van Gerwen with a blizzard of blistering arrows in Sheffield

Wayne Mardle is hoping for a fairy tale Premier League ending after witnessing Phil Taylor crush world No 1 Michael van Gerwen in Sheffield on Thursday night.
Taylor denied Michael van Gerwen the chance to secure top spot in the league table with a 7-3 win which also sees the six-time champion maintain his fourth place in the race for play-off spots.
Taylor is two points clear of Dave Chisnall going into next week's final league night in Aberdeen - meaning that he needs just a point from his game with Adrian Lewis to secure qualification for London's O2 in his farewell season.
"I'm one of these for the ultimate ending," Mardle told Sky Sports. "I would love to see Phil Taylor win the Premier League and bow out. Collect the trophy at London's O2 and then leave the sport.
"It would mean a disaster and an absolute pearler of a night for Dave Chisnall for the current standings to flip-flop. But the positions haven't been finalised yet. It's still exciting and nothing is finished yet.
"It's going to be so tough to call and there were people writing Phil Taylor off a few weeks ago. But we've been saying it all along that he's capable of beating anyone on the night and Gary Anderson said exactly that in his interview tonight.
"Phil Taylor might roll up at the play-offs, have a wonderful time and win it for a seventh time. Would it be a shock? Of course it wouldn't.
"Would it be a shock for Peter Wright to win? Gary or Michael? Of course, the answer is no. The thing is, these players are all so good and they beat each other on a regular basis and Phil said 'I'm not scared' so why should he be scared of anyone?"
You can see all the action from the AECC GE Oil & Gas Arena in Aberdeen next Thursday from 7pm on Sky Sports 1 HD, including the clash between Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.
