Felipe Nasr was left relieved his brakes failed in the slow-speed stadium section rather than at one of the high-speed sections of track in Mexico.

With speeds in excess of 220mph in places around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a brake failure in the wrong place could have caused a huge accident.

Despite Sauber having telemetry telling them Nasr's brake temperatures and Jenson Button reporting over the radio that the Brazilian's brakes were on fire, the Swiss team opted to leave their driver out on track.

"I was telling them what I was feeling and I am glad it happened in a slow-speed corner because there was no more pedal," Nasr told Sky Sports F1.

"It is a situation that is no good for me or for the team, we don't look good out there. So we need to find a very quick solution."

Conditions in Mexico made brake temperatures a worry for everyone throughout the race, however, Nasr was seemingly the only driver to suffer a failure.

"I was managing my brakes since lap one, it seemed more critical on my car so it is another thing we need to analyse and know why it is happening," he added.
