McLaren appoint Jost Capito

Jonathan Neale switches to McLaren Technology Group

McLaren have announced Jost Capito, formerly director of motorsport at Volkswagen, has been appointed their racing team's chief executive officer.

Jonathan Neale, who had previously filled the role in an interim capacity, will become chief operating officer of McLaren Technology Group.

Eric Boullier's position is unchanged as the F1 team's racing director.

McLaren announced as long ago as January 2014 in the process of confirming Boullier's recruitment from Lotus that 'Eric will ultimately report to the Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Racing, an all-new position, whose yet-to-be-appointed occupant will in turn report directly to Ron Dennis'.

That search has now concluded with the appointment of Capito, although his start date has yet to be agreed with Volkswagen.

"I first approached Jost last summer," said Dennis. "He is an extremely impressive, competitive and ambitious individual, who comes to us with a very wide range of automotive and motorsport experience."
