Force India's Nico Hulkenberg didn't even make the first turn of the Singapore Grand Prix after colliding with Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz

There was chaotic start at the Singapore Grand Prix as the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg crashed into the wall just after the lights went out.

Incredibly, the race then restarted after a Safety Car deployment with a marshal still on the track.

The Force India driver found himself sandwiched between the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and the Toro Rosso of Carlos Sainz, before making contact with the latter and heading into the wall.

Elsewhere, Nico Rosberg got off to a great start from the front, while Max Verstappen was caught up in the incident and dropped several places down from fourth as the Safety Car was called out. Every edition of the Singapore Grand Prix, since the race was introduced in 2008, has now seen at least one Safety Car deployed.
