Brazilian GP: Rain set to make for unpredictable race

World title could be decided live on Sky F1 from 4pm at Interlagos

Formula 1's potential Brazilian GP title decider on Sunday could be poised to prove unpredictable with rain falling in the hours ahead of the race at Interlagos.

Steady showers throughout the morning in Sao Paulo mean the undulating track is soaked, with more rain forecast through the afternoon.

The race begins at 4pm UK time, live only on Sky Sports F1 and SS1.

Nico Rosberg will become world champion if he wins the race but the German starts behind Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton on the front row of the grid.

Race-day rain is usually an unwanted arrival for a polesitter, but Hamilton admitted after qualifying his title predicament was such - he trails Rosberg by 19 points with two races to go - that it would not be unwelcome on this occasion.

Lewis Hamilton will start the Brazilian GP on pole - the 60th of his career - in a must win race to keep his Drivers' Championship hopes alive.

Irrespective of whether he wins in Brazil and Abu Dhabi, the reigning champion would still miss out on the title to Rosberg if the German finishes on the podium in both events.

"You often want a wet race when you're further behind to give you an opportunity to get further ahead," Hamilton said. "But I guess in this scenario I'm on pole but I'm actually behind in points, so it wouldn't be so bad if it did rain.

"Honestly, I feel prepared for either scenario - and I love either scenario. I love driving in the wet, of course it makes it more of a lottery, so I feel like we are prepared and ready for whatever comes."

Hamilton, one of F1's recognised rain masters, has won the two rain-affected grands prix this season.

At Monaco in May, a struggling Rosberg was told to let Hamilton through with the Briton going on to win, while the championship leader finished seventh.

Then at July's British GP, Hamilton won again while Rosberg finished second on the road but dropped to third behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen after a post-race penalty.
