Antonio Giovinazzi got his first taste of a Ferrari F1 car as he tested the 2015 SF15-T at Fiorano on Thursday.
The Italian was runner-up in the GP2 Series last year and will serve as Ferrari's reserve driver in 2017.
Giovinazzi ran a test programme approved by the FIA to compare data gathered from the simulator with the information gathered at the track.
"It was a wonderful feeling, as this was my first time driving a Formula 1 car. For an Italian, driving out of the pits in a Ferrari is an amazing experience," said Giovinazzi.
"The actual testing was very interesting, with so many procedures to follow. But the guys in the team were very nice to me and extremely helpful and that made everything much easier. I'd like to thank the whole team."
Ferrari plan to run their 2015 at their private test track again on Friday.
