Antonio Giovinazzi to run in seven Practice One sessions for Haas

Haas have announced that Ferrari third driver Antonio Giovinazzi will run in seven of the remaining Practice One sessions this season.

Giovinazzi appeared earlier this year in two grands prix, driving for Sauber as a stand-in for the injured Pascal Wehrlein.

Since then, however, Sauber have announced they will be supplied with Honda engines in 2018.

The 23-year-old Giovinazzi will appear in P1 at the British, Hungarian, Italian, Malaysia, Mexican, Brazilian and Abu Dhabi GPs.

Kevin Magnussen will vacate his seat for six of the sessions with team-mate Romain Grosjean sitting out first practice at the Mexican GP.

"In a year that's already been filled with great opportunities, I'm proud to have another one with Haas F1 Team," said Giovinazzi.

"Being the third driver with Scuderia Ferrari is obviously a great place to be, and getting seat time in these FP1 sessions with Haas F1 Team will keep me sharp.

"I'll be able to take what I've learned in the simulator and apply it in actual race conditions. I'm proud of the faith Ferrari and Haas have in me and gracious for the seat time Kevin and Romain are sharing with me."
