Honda team officially renamed Brawn GP

Ross Brawn's Formula One has officially be named 'Brawn GP' after the FIA approved the new name earlier this week. Having purchased the Honda Racing team earlier this month, Ross Brawn renamed the outfit 'Brawn GP' but in order for anything to happen in Formula One it first had to be sanctioned by the FIA. And that happened earlier this week. "The Honda Racing F1 Team requested to change its name to the Brawn GP Formula One Team," said an FIA statement "The WMSC accepted this request on the basis that the team is, in effect, a new entry in the FIA Formula One World Championship. "The contract the team had with the FIA was to run as 'Honda', which they are no longer in a position to do. However, the standard fee required for a new entry has been waived."
