Hockenheim expected to favour the W03
Nico Rosberg is confident that Mercedes are in good shape to deliver a strong showing at their home grand prix this weekend with the expectation that the Hockenheim circuit should suit the W03.
Although Michael Schumacher claimed provisional pole in Monaco and Rosberg subsequently finished F1's showpiece event in second place, the general perception is that Mercedes have fallen behind Red Bull, Ferrari and even Lotus since claiming their maiden victory in China. However, even after finishing the British GP in a modest 15th position, Rosberg remains bullish about his team's prospects this weekend.
"We haven't maximised what we've had in the last few weeks and then in Silverstone the track didn't really suit our car. I still think we have a good car and that, if he conditions suit us and we get a good grip on the tyres, and have a track like Hockenheim which suits our good, we should be capable of achieving a very good result," he said during Thursday's press conference.
Team-mate Michael Schumacher is also confident that the worst is now behind Mercedes and the team should be more competitive on home soil.
"Our most difficult race we have behind us - and that was Silverstone. Hockenheim will naturally suit our car and I'm a lot more optimistic. We want to give it a good show and if one of us, or two of us, can be on the podium then that would be great."
