Veteran's future with Mercedes still yet to be determined as he celebrates 300th race
Michael Schumacher has confirmed that a decision on his future with Mercedes - and in F1 - will be made in the next two months.
Although this weekend's event will see Schumacher, the sport's most successful driver, celebrate his 300th grand prix, the landmark has also inevitably shifted attention to the pertinent question of whether he will continue driving in F1 next season. Force India driver Paul di Resta has already been heavily tipped to join Mercedes if a vacancy were to arise and, speaking in Thursday's press conference at Spa, Schumacher confirmed that a decision on his future was imminent.
"By October we will be able to give indications," Michael told reporters. "But there's no news at the moment, I'm afraid."
In addition to being asked about the future, Michael was also subjected to a series of questions about his 20-year career in F1. Whilst admitting - perhaps understandably - that he couldn't quite remember each of his 299 grands prix to date, the German had no hesitation in identifying his favourite race.
"I keep talking about Suzuka in 2000 because of the quality of the race, the end of the race, and the meaning of the result. It was a very special race for me and for so many others.
"But there has been plenty of satisfaction over more than twenty years and I still enjoy it."
Whether he continues to enjoy F1 in 2013, however, remains to be seen.
