Evolution continues for reigning champions

Red Bull Racing unveiled their Renault-powered RB7 in Valencia on Tuesday, the car they hope will see them retain their world titles. Red Bull won the Formula One constructors' championship last season ahead of McLaren, while Sebastian Vettel pipped Fernando Alonso to the drivers' title. Vettel, who became the youngest ever F1 world champion, also became the fifth driver to wear the crown in five years. However, Red Bull are intent on the German becoming the first since Alonso in 2006 to retain it.

Changes

Although evolutionary, the RB7 has several notable changes to its predecessor. The car features a higher nose and engine cover as well as a different rear wing design. Red Bull design guru Adrian Newey told the official F1 website: "Preparing for the new season has been an interesting challenge for all of us. "There have been a number of changes to the regulations and while they are not as comprehensive as the changes for 2009, the major differences - such as the re-introduction of the KERS system and the arrival of a moveable rear wing to aid overtaking - have meant that RB7 is quite different to last year's car. "However, what we have done is taken the philosophy of continuing evolution. We have evolved RB6, which itself was an evolution of 2009's RB5, and this is, if you like, the third generation of a successful lineage." Vettel will be the first to drive the new car as he takes to the Valencia circuit later on Tuesday.
