British team keen to reverse their recent slide down the grid
Williams launched their 2011 model, the FW33 on Tuesday, as they bid to reclaim their seat at Formula One's top table.
Williams have struggled in recent seasons having been for so many years one of the sport's top teams - often as not the number one.
The Grove-based team continued their tradition of using interim colours during pre-season testing, with the FW33's livery for the upcoming season to be released at a later date.
Williams technical director Sam Michael described the car's design as "aggressive".
"Until you start testing you're never sure how you're going to stack up against the opposition, but we're optimistic. We think this is a good car, but we'll have a better overall picture in a few weeks time," said Michael.
"The design of this year's car has been pretty smooth.
"We've improved our way of working by increasing the communication between the mechanical and aerodynamic departments, and that improved our decision making processes. It allowed us to increase the optimisation time spent on each part of the car," he added.
Ambition
The Williams management are hopeful that the FW33 will see them move up the grid and reverse the team's recent downward slide.
"Our ambition is get back to the front of the grid," explained Sir Frank Williams.
"We know that won't be easy, but we hope this car will take us closer to the leaders than we were in 2010. As a team, we're as ambitious now as we've ever been."
Rubens Barrichello will put the FW33 through its paces on Tuesday, before sharing driving duties with new team-mate Pastor Maldonado for the second day of testing before the Venezuelan takes over for Thursday's final day.
