German has high hopes over his partnership with Di Resta

Nico Hulkenberg is hoping his partnership with Paul Di Resta will help pay dividends for Force India this season. The German returns to the Formula One stage after spending the 2011 campaign as a test and reserve driver at the Silverstone-based team. Hulkenberg, who was dumped by Williams at the end of 2010 despite some encouraging displays, has come in to replace Adrian Sutil with the 24-year-old teaming up with di Resta at the ambitious outfit. And Hulkenberg, who failed to finish at the Australian GP in 2010, believes the new-look pairing can work well for the team. "The relationship between us is very good," Hulkenberg told Sky Sports.

Hungry

"We are very competitive. We are both are at the start of our careers and hungry for success, but we still work well together and so far it is a good move for us. "Between us hopefully we can push ourselves to the absolute maximum - and the team as well - and that way it will take us one step further up." Force India have continued to develop under the guidance of Indian business mogul Vijay Mallya, with the team finishing sixth in 2011. And although they are raring to go ahead of the season-opening in Melbourne, Di Resta is refusing to say how they will do this time around. "I think that the field has closed up," he said. "It is difficult to predict exactly where we are - and I certainly wouldn't do at the moment "We've had a reasonable winter and we have got through everything."
