Sir Patrick Stewart becomes the first knight of the realm to do a shoey at the Canadian GP

The 'shoey' is back - and even Sir Patrick Stewart couldn't resist joining Daniel Ricciardo for his trademark podium celebration in Canada.

Stewart was conducting the post-race interviews when he made his way to the Australian, who was clearly elated after securing third place for Red Bull.

And after taking a swig of champagne from his race-worn boot for the first time since last year's United States GP, Ricciardo invited the legendary actor to have a drink himself. Stewart happily obliged, to the delight of a packed Montreal crowd.

Ricciardo brought the celebration to Formula 1 last season, getting Christian Horner and Nico Rosberg involved after winning in Malaysia, and actor Gerard Butler on the Austin podium.

As for his race in Canada, Ricciardo was relieved to secure a third successive podium after holding off two Force Indias for the majority of his afternoon.

"I only had fun when I saw the chequered flag," he said. "It was tough. I was defending the whole race and we weren't that quick to be honest. I couldn't afford to do any mistakes and it was getting quite hot.
