Ross Brawn is cautiously optimistic Mercedes will have a stronger race pace in Monaco than they did in Spain two weeks ago.

Mercedes have topped qualifying at each of the last three events and, with overtaking at a premium in Monaco, a fourth consecutive pole would give the German-marque an opportunity to control the race from the front. "It is a great place to start in Monaco, but there are some possibilities around the pit-stops," Brawn said. "There will be some little windows of opportunity and if we slip up or other teams slip up then you can give it away around the pit-stops. So there is still a lot of work to do. "Overtaking is not terribly viable here so qualifying really is important but if you are not in good shape around the pit-stops then you can drop the ball."
