Scott faces lengthy layoff

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley fears Paul Scott's latest knee surgery could keep him on the sidelines for six months.

Scott, who can operate in defence or midfield, joined the Shrimps from Bury last summer but has been hampered by a knee problem and has already undergone several operations. Bentley said: "The worst case scenario is that Paul could be out of action for six months. "If the operation can be done by keyhole surgery it may not be as long but that might not be possible and if that is the case it means a longer spell on the sidelines. "It is a real blow for Paul and for us because he missed almost all of last season with the same injury and I really feel for him. We will have our fingers crossed for him and hope the operation is a success."
