Southend have suffered a blow with the news Fulham have recalled on-loan striker Cauley Woodrow.

The 19-year-old has returned to his parent club, who have been disappointed with the number of games he has started of late and he could now be set for a loan move elsewhere. Woodrow made a total of 22 appearances for Southend having arrived in Essex at the start of September, scoring four goals, however only 10 of those were starts and just two of which since mid-November. The teenager was due to remain at Roots Hall until the end of the season. Manager Phil Brown told the club's official website: "It is a shame to lose Cauley but we were always under the control of a Premier League club. "Cauley scored a couple of important league goals, against Exeter and of course the winner against AFC Wimbledon. "We felt he was developing well as a footballer in and around a first team. "He was a great professional and we hope he enjoys a successful career in the game."
