Walsall have extended the loan deal of Michael Cain from Leicester for another month.

The midfielder's deal expired after the Saddlers' 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on Saturday but they have agreed to keep him until after their trip to Colchester on January 17. "It's a real boost to be able to further extend Michael's loan," Walsall boss Dean Smith told the club's official site. "He's a talented young lad who has slotted extremely well into the team. "He's made a real impact and also has a fantastic attitude and work-rate. "He has a bright future ahead of him and I am delighted that we have been able to extend his stay with us." Cain has impressed for the Sky Bet League One side since initially signing on a month's loan in October and has made 12 appearances. The 20-year-old scored in the Saddlers' 2-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw at Tranmere last month, which Walsall then won on penalties to reach the Area final against Preston.
