Oxford have announced the signing of goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old joins the U's as a free agent having left Crawley back in November last year. Originally a youth player at Reading, Ashdown enjoyed the most prominent spell of his career during an eight-year stay with Portsmouth in the Premier League, where he picked up an FA Cup winners medal in 2008. Head coach Michael Appleton told the official club website: "Jamie is a good keeper. We want competition all through the squad so he will push Ryan Clarke for that position." Ashdown added: "I am really happy to have joined. "I still have that enthusiasm and work ethic and can't wait to get out there diving about in training and joining in. "It's a good club, very ambitious, and an exciting new challenge for me."
