Blades boss baffled by injuries

Danny Wilson says watching all four of Sheffield United's defenders going off against Oldham was "the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen".

Lecsinel Jean-Francois sustained a season-ending knee injury, fellow centre-half Harry Maguire was sent off for a professional foul, right-back Matty Lowton was dismissed for a second bookable offence and left-back Andy Taylor was forced off with cramp towards the end of his first appearance in 14 months following a long-term knee injury. Blades boss Wilson said: "That's the first time in 30-odd years I've seen the back four taken out in one game. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and to have it happen to yourself is difficult to explain. "That was obviously one of the reasons why we didn't come out with any success in both games." Wilson added: "We can't have everything going exactly the way we want it. We're going to have blips and ups and downs in certain games, but we've got to deal with it and I've got great belief in the players and the way they'll react to this situation." Maguire, Lowton and Taylor return to contention for Saturday's clash at Brentford, while on-loan pair Matt Hill and John Egan, who Wilson drafted in as cover, are hoping to retain their places.
