Clough pondering McGahey recall

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough could be tempted to recall teenage defender Harrison McGahey from his loan spell at Tranmere.
Chris Basham begins a two-game ban this weekend after reaching 10 yellow cards, fellow centre-half Terry Kennedy will be sidelined for another two weeks due to a knee injury and Jay McEveley is not yet fit following a shoulder problem. Out-of-favour Neill Collins meanwhile, has been struggling with a calf injury, leaving John Brayford and Craig Alcock as the likely centre-back pairing for Saturday's game at Scunthorpe. McGahey had made 22 appearances for the Blades this season before joining Tranmere on loan in January and when asked about him, Clough said: "There's a chance we're going to bring Harrison back as defensive cover. "I think we can do after Saturday. That's when his 28 days is up and we're probably going to do that this week." McGahey has made four appearances for Tranmere and Clough agreed under normal circumstances the 19-year-old would be better served getting regular first-team football with the League Two club. "Ideally, but our needs come first and we might need him as cover," Clough added. "We're quite happy with the five that we've got available - and it will be either John or Craig at centre-half - but Harrison will give us a bit of extra cover until Terry Kennedy is fit."
