U's keen on new Massey deal

Colchester United are hopeful of extending striker Gavin Massey's loan stay from Watford.
The forward's initial month-long deal expires after Saturday's trip to former loan club Yeovil, with whom Massey, 19, spent the first half of the season. Manager John Ward told the Green'Un: "I spoke to Sean Dyche (Watford boss) a week or so ago about extending Gavin's loan, and I've left a message with him this morning (Thursday) because I can't get hold of him at the moment. "It's something I want to do, and initially we are all okay to do it. Watford were happy a week ago, I'm happy and Gavin Massey is happy, so if we can get the appropriate paperwork sorted, and everyone is still happy, then we'll get it done." Massey himself added: "I've heard I might be staying longer at Colchester, and I want to. I'll probably find out in the next couple of days, hopefully before Saturday." Meanwhile, U's youth-team captain Alex Gilbey has penned a two-and-a-half year professional contract with the League One club.
