Preston North End have signed Birmingham City youngster Jake Jervis on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old forward, who scored five times in a recent two-month spell with Swindon, will go straight into the North End squad for Monday's League One clash at Rochdale. Jervis' arrival comes as a boost to caretaker management duo Graham Alexander and David Unsworth, with striker Neil Mellor set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following knee surgery. "Jake is a physical lad, he has got a decent touch and a bit of pace about him," said Alexander. "He is a young lad who is hungry to come to Preston North End and prove a point. "We want people who see Preston North End will give players a chance to get recognition of how good they are as players and have a point to prove. I think Jake is one of them (and) if he gives the sort of commitment that he has shown to try and get here then that will do for us."
