Wycombe manager Gary Waddock described his side as 'Jekyll and Hyde' following the 4-2 home win over Leyton Orient.
Wanderers withstood a spirited fightback to climb off the bottom of the npower League One table. Stuart Beavon's early goal sparked a fantastic first half for the hosts, who demolished their opponents to go into half-time 4-0 ahead. Paul Hayes, Matt Bloomfield and Ben Strevens chipped in with the other goals. But nerves inside Adams Park were jangling as Orient gained a second wind to pull two goals back through Matt Spring and Marc Laird. "Jekyll and Hyde was exactly what it was and what it has been lately," said Waddock. "Hartlepool was very good and Scunthorpe very bad and the first half here was brilliant while the second half was always going to be difficult because of the score at half-time. "We just needed to do a professional job but then they scored early in the second half and the momentum was with them. However, we saw the game out and the most important thing was the three points and the win so credit to the players. "It is an important three points, coming in a home game off the back of a poor performance and result at Scunthorpe. There was a reaction from the players and I thought we were outstanding in the first half for the way they closed down, pressurised and the way we moved the ball around. The goals we scored were very pleasing to the eye."
