Gillingham sign young defender

Former Sunderland defender John Egan has signed for League One Gillingham on a free transfer.
The 21-year-old was released by the Barclays Premier League side after his contract came to an end following an injury ravaged few years. Egan suffered a broken leg in 2012 which limited his playing opportunities but a loan spell at Southend last season was enough to convince Gills manager Peter Taylor that he was worth giving a two-year deal.
