Knill delight as Iron come good

Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill felt his side were worthy winners despite having been given a fright late on by plucky Stevenage.

Eddie Nolan got the Iron on their way with a smart opening goal in first-half stoppage-time. When Michael O'Connor made it 2-0 just into added time at the end of the game, it looked all over. But Stevenage substitute Josh Walker pounced to make it 2-1 almost immediately, to set up a frantic finish. Thankfully for Knill though, his side hung on for an impressive three points. "It's a great result for us, but in saying that I thought it was a win we fully deserved on the balance of play," Knill said. "We played some good football and I think we were pleasing on the eye a number of times. "We've worked on things in the training ground and clearly some things have got through to the lads after the outcome. It's been an up and down season for us so far, but generally we got things right and we've emerged with three very important points. "Everyone at the club will be lifted by this result, and in football that's what you need, particularly in such a tough division as our's. It's an old clichi I know, but there are no easy games in League One, as has been proved so far this term. It's given us something to build on once again."
