Medy Elito has agreed a two-year deal with Cambridge.

The 25-year old winger snubbed a new deal at Sky Bet League Two rivals Newport to join the U's.

Elito told his new club's website: "Cambridge United is a good team so I'm very pleased to be signing.

"After I spoke to the manager and to Jez George (CEO), they told me about where they wanted to take the club and it feels like the right place to move forward. I also like that it's a family club.

"It's a great opportunity to push myself on as a player, and for the team I'll be looking to play my part to continue moving upwards."

Boss Shaun Derry added: "I'm delighted that we have been able to bring in Medy as the next signing for the upcoming season.

"Medy brings a different type of attacking option our way and is one I'm sure our fans will enjoy watching next season.
