Powell bags apprentice prize

Crewe's Nick Powell ended a superb weekend by earning the League Two Apprentice of the Year prize at the annual Football League Awards.
Powell, who scored twice in a dramatic 4-3 victory over Gillingham just a day earlier, got the nod from the judges ahead of Swindon's Miles Story and Daniel Bannister of Northampton. The 17-year-old, who made his England under-18 debut earlier in the week, has scored 11 times already this season and is a reported transfer target for Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool.
