Family affair delights Davis

Image: Davis: Proud of son for scoring

Steve Davis was proud as punch after son Harry struck the winner to see off Bradford and keep Crewe in the running for a play-off place.

Davis jnr rattled home a first-half penalty as Crewe claimed a third successive victory and stretched their unbeaten run to eight games. The struggling Bantams are just four points from danger but could have stolen a share of the spoils if James Hanson and David Syers had not missed golden opportunities. Steve Davis said: "It was a hard game but we were ready for it and prepared for a battle and we have come through it well. The lads showed some real grit to dig in an earn those three points. "Harry is very calm in that situation and a lot calmer than I was when I was a player, he has put it away very well. We were the better team in the first half and were difficult to break down but we couldn't get the other goal. "They played well in the second half and caused us problems but we got another clean sheet even though we rode our luck a little bit at the end."
