Wilcox hails 'brave' York

Jake Hyde swooped to score a stoppage-time leveller as York drew 1-1 at sixth-placed Plymouth to the delight of manager Russ Wilcox.
Hyde followed up his initial header, saved by goalkeeper Luke McCormick, to sweep the ball in following a Diego De Girolamo free-kick from the left. Plymouth - who enjoyed the lion's share of possession and chances - led after three minutes as Bobby Reid's deflected lob spun up over City stopper Alex Cisak and into the far corner. Wilcox said: "I thought we deserved it. I thought we were very brave given that we went a goal down after three minutes away at a club that have won six on the spin at home. "I think the last 10 games they have scored first they have won so it is a terrific win for the football club and well deserved. "The early goal knocked the stuffing out of us but we dusted ourselves down, we stuck at it and the key was to stay in the game. "We knew if they got the second goal it could be game over but we dug deep and passed it and moved it well in the second half. We didn't create as many opportunities as we would have liked. "We actually created the best two opportunities in the first half and we were disappointed because you always know when you come to the top teams you are not going to create a dozen chances. "To score at the end is so pleasing because it has happened against us so often this season. It was a fantastic feeling. "We always speak about set plays, we kept the ball alive and got our rewards." Plymouth boss John Sheridan said: "I am obviously disappointed not to take the three points, but I am very pleased with the way we played. I thought we were excellent. The biggest downer is that we didn't take our opportunities. "I thought Kelvin Mellor was unbelievable, Andy Kellett was outstanding, Bobby Reid was outstanding, and I thought that as a team we did everything right. "We did everything right, other than the last second. They get a free-kick, which I think should have been our free-kick. I am a long way away, but I think the referee changed his mind. "It is near enough the last kick of the game, and the ball is coming in your box, so there is always going to be a danger, and unfortunately it ends up in the back of the net. "I just said that to the players, I cannot fault them. They are all down but I am chuffed with the way we went about how to win the game. "I thought we did everything right. It's just a shame we didn't get a second goal. "York took their chance. I've been on the other end enough times where we have got a last-minute goal, so credit to York."
