Gills lose Obita's services

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler has lost out in his bid to retain Jordan Obita after the on-loan winger returned to Reading.

The 18-year-old made five starts and one substitute appearance during his month-long stay at Priestfield, netting an impressive three times. Hessenthaler had hoped to keep hold of Obita's services as Gills aim to gatecrash the play-off places in League Two, but the Royals are keen to see him return as they battle for promotion of their own to the Premier League. Hessenthaler told Gillingham's official website: "We enjoyed the time he's been here, he's still only a young lad and this isn't an easy level for an Academy player to come into. "In the games he played he did very well for us. He goes back to a club who are absolutely flying and I wish them well."
