League Two club Morecambe have released youngsters Dan Parkinson and James Short after the duo failed to break into the first team.
The duo enjoyed success in non-league loan spells this term but were ultimately unable to force their way into boss Jim Bentley's first-team plans. Wideman Parkinson made 10 substitute appearances over two seasons with the Shrimps and turned out for Blue Square Bet Premier North outfits Vauxhall Motors and Colwyn Bay. First-year professional Short spent time with Lancaster City and Kendal Town but failed to make a first-team appearance despite featuring regularly at left-back for Morecambe's reserves. "Both lads have a lot of promise and I really do hope they find good clubs," Bentley told the club's official website. "They have both been great to work with and done really well with clubs on loan spells and I am sure they have good careers ahead of them."
