On-loan defender Chris Hussey had given the Shakers the lead on his full debut, but Burnett's side pegged them back thanks to a fine equaliser from Luke Norris. Dagenham goalkeeper Chris Lewington made two crucial saves from Clive Platt, while Andy Procter hit the crossbar as Bury were denied victory. Burnett said: "I think it could've gone either way. "We had some chances and they certainly had some chances, but a draw was probably a fair result. "I think Flicker (Flitcroft) has done a fantastic job at Bury since taking over and we saw two teams really try to win the match and put on a good spectacle. "My players have done unbelievably well. We've had a lot of games, a lot of away games and a lot of travelling and we looked tired in the end. "But we managed to stay strong and we were resilient, so fair play to the players. "It was a fantastic goal from Luke too. He's still a young boy learning his trade, but he can score goals. "He glided past a couple of people and produced a fantastic finish into the corner. "He's got that in him, but I've been more impressed with his work-rate. "He's worked hard since getting in the team and that's his reward." The game was an open affair throughout, Bury midfielder Craig Jones and Daggers striker Medy Elito both wasting golden opportunities early on. Visiting goalkeeper Lewington rushed out to make a superb block from Platt at point-blank range to keep it scoreless at the break. On-loan Burton defender Hussey finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, receiving the reverse pass from Danny Mayor to finish at the near post. Lewington then made a stunning one-handed save from Platt before Norris levelled, beating a couple of challenges to curl home in the 67th minute.
