Steve Evans praised Rotherham's medical staff for getting Lee Frecklington and Kieran Agard fit for their play-off win over Preston.

The duo both scored for the Millers as they booked their place in the final at Wembley with a 3-1 victory at New York Stadium. Evans had ruled the pair out on Monday as Frecklington came off in Saturday's first-leg at Deepdale with a knee injury and Agard missed out altogether with a hamstring problem. But physios Denis Circuit and Mark Stein worked round the clock to get the pair ready and Evans' gamble to select them paid off. "When I left the training ground on Wednesday Agard was not playing, he was out," Evans said. "Then I got a call from the physio Denis Circuit, who I call the Grim Reaper because he never gives me any good news, at 11am and he said he would be fit. "I nearly fell out of my chair. I got him in and asked him how fit he was, he said 'I'm not feeling the injury and I'm willing to give it a go', that's the spirit we have got. "On Sunday Lee Frecklington's knee was the size of my head, which is big. I was in two minds whether to put him on the bench, but I just thought I'd start him because he is a huge player for us. "My medical staff deserve huge, huge credit and you can see with Lee "Frecklington's celebration for his goal, he went over and hugged the Grim Reaper."
