Hartlepool winger Jack Compton could make his first team return earlier than expected following knee surgery.
The 26-year-old has not featured since being forced off during September's goalless draw with Portsmouth and was expected to be out for at least three months. However, initial fears of a lengthy lay-off appear to have been allayed after club physio Ian Gallagher confirmed the possibility of a return ahead of schedule. "Jack has come in every day, got his head down, followed his programmes and even done extra work in his own time," Gallagher told the club's official website. "He's shown a great attitude to his work and is really eager to return to fitness and get back out on the pitch and start helping the team."
