Micky Adams was "immensely proud" of Port Vale's comfortable 3-0 victory over Burton on the day the club filed for administration.

Vale are now just two points adrift of the play-offs zone, but Adams knows that means precious little with an automatic 10-point penalty waiting just around the corner. "I told the players at 5pm that the inevitable had happened," said Adams. "We knew the club was going to go into administration and we all understand the reasons, but it was still very difficult to take. It's doubly hard to take when we are on a good run and playing some very good football. This team had a chance of winning promotion, but that chance is going to be taken away from them. "We had a good discussion and we all know we are fighting for our futures and for our careers. We don't know what the administrator's remit is, but I'm sure we will all find out pretty soon. "I don't know if there are going to be redundancies or if players will have to be sold. I don't even know if I will have a job. But the last thing on my mind is my career. This is all about the players and all the other good people at the football club who work very long hours behind the scenes. "The players were brilliant. Their attitude was first-class in very difficult circumstances and I'm immensely proud of them."
