Jordan Chapell, the 21-year-old on loan from Sheffield United, scored with his first touch when his cross sailed into the far corner of the net after 73 minutes - but it took Vale just two minutes to rescue a point through their own super sub Ben Williamson. Burton boss Rowett, who had seen his side thumped 4-1 by leaders Gillingham on Saturday, said: "I think we took the lead slightly fortuitously and we're disappointed we didn't hold onto it. "But the big thing for me is that we played better than we have for three or four games and showed a lot more potency. I think against a very, very good Port Vale side, who are second in the league, a point is not something to be sniffed at. "The way Port Vale play you know the game is going to be open and we had to defend really well at times. But I thought we had a go and might have won it because we had three or four half chances and offered more of a threat than we have done of late. "I was delighted for Jordan that he got the goal, even if he didn't quite intend it. He's an old fashioned winger who wants to get crosses in - and what a great start for him at the club before he's even trained with us."
