Tubbs is making the difference

Guy Whittingham praised the contribution Matt Tubbs has made since rejoining Crawley following their 1-0 win over Peterborough.
Striker Tubbs has now hit five goals in five games since his loan move from Bournemouth and Whittingham believes the 29-year-old is using all his experience to make it a profitable return. Crawley's single-goal win in their first home game for nine weeks ended Posh's unbeaten run of five games in league and cup. Tubbs settled the issue from the penalty spot five minutes from time after debutant Posh defender Jack Baldwin had handled Andy Drury's free-kick. Whittingham said: "Matt has certainly made a difference with his five goals. He works the keeper every time he gets a shot on goal. "The way in which he took the penalty, by lifting it down the middle, showed what it takes to be a goalscorer. "He has the confidence to do that. He is a thinker." Whittingham is delighted with the manner in which Crawley have gone about their football after going four weeks without a game. He added: "It was very frustrating to go four weeks without a match and it's credit to the players that since then we've got seven points out of nine against Walsall, Swindon and Peterborough - who are all going for promotion." The Red Devils have only lost one of nine league games since boss John Gregory took charge and Whittingham believes team spirit has played a massive part. He said: "You have to give credit to the players. We started with a good team spirit and they've taken it on. "With so many games in hand we have the opportunity now to pick up points quickly and we'll see where that takes us."
