Flitcroft deflate by loss

David Flitcroft admitted he felt deflated at the full-time whistle as his Bury side fell to a 1-0 defeat at play-off hopefuls York.
The Shakers, who had Daniel Nardiello sent off, dominated the second half and did everything but score with Tom Soares going closest to restoring parity. Flitcroft believes the defeat has ending his side's slim hopes of the play-offs but admitted he couldn't have asked much more from his team. "I've said to the players that they've given everything," he said. "We've tried everything as a group to win this football match, I know how important it was for us to keep the season alive, and I'm deflated because we did more than enough to win the match. "We dominated the game with eleven men and it was a scruffy goal they got and Jens (Brian Jenson) has only had to make one save all game. I'm not deluded, I know what I've seen, but we've been beaten and it's deflating. The lads they give each other everything and we can't give anymore than what I've just witnessed. "We've had good momentum and we've worked hard to get where we are and I wanted to keep the season alive until the last game. It's taken away that opportunity to fight for a play-off place."
