Daniel Powell grabbed the game's only goal in an entertaining clash at Meadow Lane just after the half-hour mark after being played in by Benik Afobe. But hosts Notts County refused to lie down and felt they should have had a penalty in the closing stages when Garry Thompson went down under a challenge from Kyle McFadzean. Robinson felt his side fully deserved the three points despite admitting he had seen those types of decisions given. "We knew how difficult it was going to be because Shaun (Derry, Notts County manager) has done an unbelievable job here," said Robinson, who's side sit second in the table. "But we must have missed four one-on-ones and had a number of chances flash across the box. "They missed a one-on-one in the second half and there was a debatable penalty right at the end. "They will feel it should have been given, but we feel we got the justice. That's just two football managers seeing it two different ways. You've seen those penalties given, I've got to be honest. "But I felt overall our approach play and the speed we move the ball makes it difficult for the opposition. "But they made my job a little bit harder in the last 10 minutes and a bit of strain on my heart. "The goal was well worked, but I think all the players deserve a mention because their work-rate is exceptional. "We are on a terrific run, but I don't want people getting too carried away." As for Notts County, they have gone five games without a league win despite Ronan Murray missing a glorious chance for an equaliser when fluffing his lines with just goalkeeper David Martin to beat. But manager Shaun Derry is refusing to get downhearted after running promotion hopefuls MK Dons close. "I'm usually not one for taking positives out of defeat but that was a fine performance, especially in the second half," Derry said. "We gave MK Dons a real tough game and I know they've had chances to put us to bed, but so did we. "I felt we really took the game to them and that was really commendable work from the lads. "We were worth a point. The decision over the penalty at the end may have cost us. I looked at it in real time and thought it was a spot-kick, but I haven't seen the replay yet. "We played some good football and I was pleased for Colby Bishop, who came on and affected the game. "He lost his legs a bit for 20 minutes before the end, but that's what happens when you make your debut. "All the subs who came on made an impression as well. There were a lot of plusses for me, but I am just disappointed we haven't got something from the game."
