TYRE ALLOCATION
Pirelli will take the two hardest compounds in their range to Silverstone this weekend: the white-marked medium compound, which will serves as the option tyre, and the orange-marked hard compound, which will be the prime tyre. Thus, there will be no step between the compounds as there was in 2012. Pirelli say these choices "will be best suited to the high-energy demands of the track." The main demands placed on the tyres this weekend will come from the high-speed corners such as Copse and Abbey, as well as the directional changes in the Maggots-Becketts complex. Unlike in Canada, Silverstone is regularly used, ensuring the track should not be as 'green' when the drivers head out on Friday morning. GP2 and GP3 are also on the support card, meaning they will help clean up the circuit and lay down more Pirelli rubber.
