American duo share lead in Toto Japan Classic on LPGA Tour

Americans Ryann O'Toole and Angela Stanford share the lead after posting opening 65s in the Toto Japan Classic at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club on Friday.
Stanford carded eight birdies and a solitary bogey in her round, while O'Toole experienced a more eventful day that included an eagle two at the par-four fourth.
The 28-year-old O'Toole, who is yet to win during her five years on the LPGA Tour, also added seven birdies and a brace of bogeys.
My putter was hot," Stanford said. "I think I had 24 total putts and that's pretty close to a career-low. I was reading the putts really well. I was seeing the line better than I have all year so I was very confident about the reads.
"I'm excited, I haven't been in this position much this year. It's fun to go out and make birdies. I'm excited for the next two days."
The leading European after 18 holes is Germany's Caroline Masson, whose 67 leaves her tied for eighth alongside Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis - the two highest ranked players in the field.
Four shots cover the top 31 while the only Briton in the field, Catriona Matthew, is tied for 51st after making 11 straight pars during her one-under 71.
