We kick off our countdown to the Players Championship by looking back at the aces at TPC Sawgrass' 17th hole

With the Players Championship just a week away, we kick off our countdown to TPC Sawgrass by looking back at the seven players to ace the course’s signature 17th hole.

It took 12 years from the tournament's launch in 1974 to see the first hole-in-one on the par-three, with Brad Fabel holing out in the opening round on the island green.

Brain Claar nailed his tee shot at the Stadium Hole in 1993 and Fred Couples posted an ace of his own during the third round of his title defence in 1997, before Joey Sindelar added another two years' later.

Paul Azinger repeated the trick in 2000 and Miguel Angel Jimenez became the first European player to ace the 17th during the 2002 tournament.

It would take another 14 years and approximately 6,300 tee shots to see another hole-in-one at the Stadium Course, with that honour falling to Will Wilcox during last year's second round.
