The Australian, who won earlier in the season at the True Thailand Classic, birdied the last to edge ahead of nearest challenger Nino Bertasio.

A gain at the 14th was followed by a four-foot eagle at the next, before the world No 66 finished his round with a two-putt birdie at the last.

"It was just all about hanging in there today, I wasn't really on top of it but I got the most out of it that I could." Hend said.

"The swing felt a little bit off out there today but I managed to hang in there and just stay patient and then I started hitting some really nice shots and that presented me with the opportunity to make some putts.
