Wales' Chloe Williams faded on the final day of the Mallorca Golf Open as Germany's Alexandra Forsterling stormed to her second Ladies European Tour title in two months.

Williams, who was chasing her first career victory, took a one-shot lead into the final round in Spain but carded a four-over 76 to finish in a tie for sixth on five under, eight behind Forsterling.

The 28-year-old recorded two double-bogeys and a bogey on her front nine before two further blemishes coming home on a disappointing afternoon.

Forsterling shot a faultless five-under 67, with two birdies going out and three gains on her back nine, to end on 13 under, five strokes clear of Race to the Costa del Sol leader Trichat Cheenglab of Thailand and six ahead of Anne van Dam of Netherlands.

Forsterling had secured her maiden Ladies European Tour title at the Swiss Open in September and this second success leaves her fifth on the Race to the Costa del Sol ahead of the final event of the season.

The 23-year-old, who is just the second player, after Celine Boutier, to win two events on the Ladies European Tour this term, said: "I can't believe it. I still can't believe that I won in Switzerland and now here. It just feels great.

"I was definitely nervous. The first couple of holes I was like, 'calm down, breathe' and then again towards the end. Winning in Switzerland definitely helped me. You get used to handling your emotions.

"I didn't make many mistakes. I saved a couple of shots and it was just perfect."

Forsterling, Cheenglab, Boutier, Diksha Dagar and Johanna Gustavsson are in contention to claim the Race to the Costa del Sol and finish the campaign as European No 1, although with Forsterling fifth, she would need to win the Andalucia Open de Espana, live on Sky Sports from Thursday.

The top 70 players in the Race to the Costa del Sol after the Andalucia Open de Espana will retain their playing rights for next year.

Watch the Andalucia Open de Espana, the final event of the 2023 Ladies European Tour, live on Sky Sports Golf from 3pm on Thursday.
