Martin Kaymer hoping for better form at Wentworth's BMW PGA Championship

Two-time major winner Martin Kaymer is hoping patience will be a virtue, as he attempts to turn around three months of poor and mediocre performances into a spell of good form.

The world No 18 German has not posted a top-25 finish since early February and he arrives at Wentworth this week hoping to boost his flagging fortunes.

However, the 30-year-old remains upbeat saying he expects to play himself into contention again soon and believes he 'may have overdone the practising' in the weeks leading up to last month's Masters Tournament at Augusta.

Kaymer admitted: "I practiced a lot in February and March, just to prepare for the Masters, and I probably did a little too much.

"I probably didn't rest my body as much as I should, and that's what I felt at the Masters. I entered the week and I was very, very tired without even playing.

"It was not the best way. But it was an experience again and another way to learn, maybe for the future, all those things I should do differently.

"The last couple of weeks I have played well. I said to my caddie this week: 'I'm really excited about the next few weeks and months.'

"I know things, they will fall into place sooner or later, and when you practise hard, it's almost not avoidable to have success. So it will happen. It's just a matter of being patient."

Kaymer, the reigning US Open champion and winner of the American PGA Championship in 2010, says he would like Wentworth’s BMW PGA Championship to be staged later in the season.

Speaking on Tuesday from the West Course, where Kaymer has never posted a top-10 finish, he added: "I would like to see this tournament, because it's the most important we play on the European Tour, played later in the year.

"The only thing that the tournament struggles with is the greens every year. It's very difficult I think for the greenkeeper to make the greens as good as they can be.

"And talking to a few members, they said 'if you come here in six weeks, the greens are perfect'. So that would be the first thing that I would change.

"I think it's going to be difficult to plan around US Open and the British Open and those things, but for such a big event, you should get the best date, and for us players, it would be even more fun to play that golf course."

In Kaymer’s last seven events, he has missed three cuts (that includes the Masters) and has a best finish of Tied-31st.
