Ronan Keating may be more famous for his musical talents rather than his sporting ability, but the Boyzone star showed off his putting skills during the opening round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Playing alongside Lee Westwood during the opening round at Carnoustie, Keating had already played his part in an three at the par-five 12th and a birdie at the 14th when he found himself lining up another long-range putt at the 18th.

Faced with a chance from over 30 feet, Keating went through a golfing rollercoaster as his putt turned towards the hole and appeared to be slowing up just short before trickling in to the cup.

"It's incredible, but nerve-wracking at the same time," Keating told Sky Sports 4. "So many people are to see the pros play, but for us amateurs the pressure is on.

"One of the best experiences I've ever had on the golf course was today. It has just been amazing, the weather has been perfect.

"The first four holes I wasn't even on the card, I was dreadful but then I started to find my feet a little."

The two at the last saw the pair card a combined eight-under 64, leaving the duo four off the pace in a tie for 23rd on the pro-am leaderboard.
