Alison Lee and Xi Yu Lin claimed a share of the lead in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia with opening-rounds of 65 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Lee, 20, opened with five birdies from her first eight holes, before adding gains at 12 and 14 on her way to a round of six-under par.
It marked the rookie's first tour appearance since America's Solheim Cup triumph over Europe in Germany last month, in which Lee was left in tears following Suzann Pettersen's call for her to be penalised for mistakenly picking up her ball in a fourballs match.
Lin matched Lee's score with seven birdies coming from just 11 holes, but missed out on the outright lead with a bogey at the last.
Defending champion Shanshan Feng ended the day a stroke behind the co-leaders with a five-under 66, along with Michelle Wie, Yani Tseng and Chella Choi.
Lydia Ko, who became the youngest major champion with her victory at the Evian Championship, fired an opening-round 71 and top-ranked Inbee Park ended the day tied-10th.
Sandra Gal of Germany was the highest-placed European with a three-under 68 while Pettersen opened with a disappointing 77, carding four bogeys and a double-bogey.
