Charley Hull part of seven-way tie at the Bahamas LPGA Classic

Charley Hull fired a first-round 68 to join Catriona Matthew in a seven-way tie for the lead at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, where world No 2 Inbee Park withdrew.

Hull carded five birdies during a blemish-free start to the week at Paradise Island, moving the 19-year-old to the top of a bunched leaderboard alongside Matthew and Americans Paula Creamer, Alison Lee and Ashley Ramsey.

Japanese pair Mika Miyazato and Haru Nomura complete the group on five under, while Park's tournament came to an early end through injury after posting one of the worst rounds of her LPGA Tour career.

Park battled a reoccurring back problem throughout her round, playing the final four holes in five over on her way to a seven-over 80 before withdrawing through injury.

"I've always had a little lower back problem and some weeks it just gets bit worse and today happened to be one of those days," Park said. "Hopefully, in Thailand I'll be in really good shape."

Creamer temporarily moved in to the outright advantage by following a front-nine 31 with a birdie at the 11th before losing ground over the closing holes, while Matthew finished strongly with back-to-back gains.

Min Seo Kwak and Jennifer Johnson sit one shot off the pace, with Solheim Cup star Brittany Lincicome one of nine players on three under.

England's Holly Clyburn finished with an even round of 73 after mixing five birdies with three blemishes and a double-bogey six at the 16th, with world No 3 Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lang also five adrift. 

Wie needed medical treatment on the 16th tee, her seventh hole of the round, after being stung by a bee in her right hand and she was never at her best as she struggled to an opening 76.
